My name is Sherlock. I was born with it, baptized with it, defended it with my fists and wits on the schoolyard, was confirmed with it, was inducted into the Army with it, and married with it. I eventually decided to live up to it.

My Grandpa Charlie Sherlock came over from Ireland with that name, and he made it shine as a detective with the Chicago police. He fought the Mob in the Roaring Twenties.  (He’s the alert gentleman in the above movie court scene.) I have tried to live up to it in a different way, as an Army officer who did investigations which cleared wrongly-charged soldiers, as a muckraking reporter who published the ugly truth, and as a litigation support consultant who uses interviewing, public records, and forensic science in casework to help victims and attack perpetrators.

I carry a laptop and a case, not a badge or a PI license or a little black book full of insider contacts I can lean on semi-legally for help. I drive a pickup, not a sports car. I’m not the best of shots, but a clip full of ammo allows multiple follow-up chances on multiple targets. I’m not a “PI for the stars,” but an honest muckraker who works with victims and helps the real men and women of this nation.  I do most of my work with public records. I’m a public eye, not a private eye.

The mission of this website is to show real people how to help themselves and their loved ones. We will post items from the news, from the police blotter, from the lawsuit ledger, and from history to show you how to help yourself and those you love. We can show you how to be your own detective.
