Holding public office in America should be an honor and a trust. Because today (November 24) is his birthday, I’m going to talk about an American hero who really did merit the honor and trust of holding public office.
The American people elected this man, Kentucky’s Zachary Taylor, as president in 1848. They chose him not because he was a skillful politician, but because they appreciated his lifetime of service to the nation as a military officer who made good decisions and shared the dangers and deprivations of his men on the frontier and in battle. Taylor was one of the nation’s best military officers in the half-century before the Civil War.
Taylor himself was a kind and honest man who was accused of being an American Indian lover because he was much more fair to them than the average officer. During the Seminole War, Taylor and his men captured a number of blacks who lived with the Seminoles and he allowed them to go to Oklahoma with the Seminoles according to their wishes instead of selling them into slavery, like many speculators and slaveholders wanted him to do. Taylor punished men in his command who raped or robbed or wrongfully shot Mexican civilians during the Mexican War. He paid for the treatment of severely wounded abandoned Mexican soldiers out of his own pocket because he told his men they were from a fellow Christian land, even if they were Catholics instead of Protestants like he and most of his men were. And he stood up to the wrongful conduct of his superiors in the Polk Administration. All of the above marked “Old Rough and Ready” as a truly great man.
Taylor’s wife Peggy, instead of sipping juleps on the porch of their plantation, served on the frontier with him. She lived in rude housing, raised their children, sewed uniforms, nursed the sick, and wrote letters home for illiterate soldiers. She turned down the honor of being the First Lady (a term her husband coined) because she made a vow to God to turn down the honors of Society if only He would let her Zack come home safe from the Mexican War. (Their charming daughter Betty served in her stead as “Hostess of the White House.”) No woman of Peggy’s wealth would do these things today. She was a noble woman in the best sense of the word.
Zachary Taylor. “Old Rough and Ready.” Our 12th President.
Taylor, despite being a slaveholder, saw slavery was tearing the country apart. So he decided to limit slavery with an eye toward ending it. Senator William Seward evidently got him to consider using federal money to buy the slaves their liberty and set them up as sharecroppers or pioneers in the West. The Democrats, the party of slavery, opposed Taylor. Taylor’s own Whigs, like the GOP today, were led by establishment politicians who were spineless. Taylor defied them all. He maneuvered to get gold rushing California and mostly Spanish and Catholic New Mexico into the Union as free states to break the slavery deadlock in the Senate. He threatened secessionist politicians to their faces with hanging if he was to catch them in rebellion. He sent troops to New Mexico to keep Texans from seizing the land. And he considered the Mormons were degenerate polygamists, so he rejected their claims to Nevada, and large parts of Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, and California, and kept them in limbo.
Senators like Whigs Henry Clay and Daniel Webster and most Democrat senators wanted to put a fugitive slave act on the books, which would allow white trash to crisscross the free states grabbing blacks and enslaving them. Taylor opposed this as well. Taylor said slaves ran away because they were being mistreated. Even though he was outnumbered in votes in the Senate and House, Taylor could veto legislation, order the Army to protect the people of New Mexico from invasion by Texans, and order the Navy to block a slaveholder attempt to invade Cuba and make it a slave state. “Old Rough and Ready” did all three.
Taylor blocked the Democrats and his own party’s senators’ attempt to sell out on the expansion of slavery. Taylor also blocked the demands of speculators to use federal money to cover bonds Texas had issued because it wasn’t the public’s duty to bail out greedy speculators. Taylor, on the verge of victory over the enemies of the Republic, sickened suddenly on the 4th of July, 1850, and died five days later. He served only 16 months as President, all of which were filled with tumult. After his death, a series of punk presidents (Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan) and cowardly congresses made the Civil War inevitable. It remained for Taylor’s followers Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Grant to deal with this horrible disaster.
Some speculated Taylor was poisoned to make it possible for Millard Fillmore and Congress to roll over for the slaveholding interests and those who held Texas bonds who wanted big money. The coroner of Jefferson County, Kentucky, at the request of more than 100 descendants of Zachary Taylor, exhumed Taylor in 1991. Since all that remained of Taylor were his bones, hair, and nails, the only poison forensic scientists could check him for that caused the symptoms he suffered was arsenic. Taylor had an arsenic level in him average for men of his era. They could not rule out poisoning by another method (one type of poisonous mushroom causes symptoms like Taylor suffered as he lay dying), so Taylor’s death remains an unsolved mystery.
Taylor looked for adult solutions to a terrible problem. He would use force to preserve the Union, and evidently leaned toward using federal money to pay slaveholders for the liberty of their slaves. Had he lived, the Civil War would have not occurred, or only a few states would have broken with the Union. if Taylor was still alive, most of the generals who would later lead the Confederacy would have listened to his counsel and would not have broken with the Union, because they served under him and admired him.
Taylor, by his service for the nation, and by his courage, honesty, and common sense, won the public’s trust, and proved himself worthy of it in the final mission of his life. He dared to confront the slavery issue which threatened the nation’s life, and died while doing so. His death was a national calamity every bit as big as the murder of his legendary supporter (and subordinate in the Black Hawk War) Abraham Lincoln.
Sadly, honorable men like Zachary Taylor or Abraham Lincoln or George Washington or Grover Cleveland or Theodore Roosevelt or Al Smith or Ronald Reagan are virtually nonexistent in the public offices of today. Donald Trump, for all his past indiscretions, is actually trying to defend the nation, and help American workers by using financial leverage to bring jobs home. President Trump has tried to deliver on his promises, and yet the establishment Republicans, like the Whigs who opposed Zachary Taylor, sabotaged his efforts to reform health care, build a border wall, defund Planned Parenthood, and reform our immigration procedures.
The average politician is not someone who has lived a life of greatness in his or her chosen field and has stepped into public life out of a sense of duty, like Zachary Taylor. The average politician views holding public office as a plum that comes with a salary and perks, and a chance to advance …. while telling people what to do and maybe not having to do a lot himself or herself except to tell most people what they want to hear. In short, it’s not public service, but the public trough and a career of not having to do honest labor to become well-to-do that these politicians seek. It’s an advancement from being a teacher or a union steward or a low-grade lawyer or a government clerk for these pushy but not-so-talented people.
Politicians (and IRS agents) normally only perform artificial respiration on people who can’t breathe so they can suck the gold and silver from victims’ teeth. Many politicians routinely violate the Ten Commandments with selfishness so blatant and spirit so mean they are a key reason there deserves to be a Hell.
Unfortunately, there is no limit to the number of terms too many politicians can serve. Once someone gets into Congress or onto a federal judge’s bench, for example, he or she is like an intestinal parasite. He or she is in surroundings he or she enjoys and it’s damn near impossible to get him or her out.
The 2018 midterm elections saw the GOP gain two Senate seats.
Republican incumbent Dean Heller of Nevada, who kept his distance from President Trump till almost the end of the campaign, lost close. Martha McSally, a US Air Force veteran and neverTrumper, lost to MTV wannabe pro-Taliban lesbian freak Kyrsten Sinema. Maricopa County’s election board, who delayed making full returns for a week, is under audit to see if there were irregularities and illegal election board personnel ballot “curing” (seeing if a ballot where the signature was different from the registered voter’s signature was actually cast by the person with the registered signature) that helped Ms. Sinema. Maricopa County has about 3 million people …. the election officials in that county, which has half the people in the state, “cured” ballots for a week after the election, when the law says they can do it only up to the end of the election day.

The goof on the left is poised to represent Arizona in the Senate. One flake follows another.
The GOP picked up Senate seats from the Dems in North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, and Florida.
A Second Amendment opponent who knows nothing about farming won a razor-thin and questionable victory to be the state’s agricultural commissioner. Nikki Fried, a Democrat and a weapons opponent, has only one agricultural experience – she lobbied for marijuana growers. Her opponent and everyone who has held the office before her have been farmers or ranchers. As agricultural commissioner, Nikki will have control of processing concealed carry gun permits in the state. She was behind until Broward County doctored revised vote totals came in. Broward County officials deliberately missed a recount deadline that might have helped her opponent win.
In the past, Republicans let this kind of corruption slide. President Trump is urging Justice Department prosecutors and investigators to check on Broward County’s corruptocrats. Corrupt election board officials in Broward County may face possible prosecution for their many offenses. Coward County, where Nikki is from, has a corrupt sheriff and cowardly deputies who refused to lock up a kid who eventually shot up a high school in that county earlier this year while they stayed outside. By the way, the little bastard, now in the Broward County Jail, got to register and vote in the election.

Leftist funded lawyers look for niche offices like these with powers to harm others if misused. They are also running hard for jobs like county prosecutor and state attorney general so they can protect deserving Democrats and use the state’s power against opponents of the state.
The Democrats won more than 30 seats to regain control of the House of Representatives. Outgoing speaker Paul Ryan lost the House elections because he did nothing to give the GOP a platform. He also will benefit personally as a lobbyist for globalist corporations because Dems are more anti-American and pro-globalist on trade and labor and other manufacturing and commerce issues than most of the GOPers they beat to flip the House.
Ryan, the worthless Speaker in the mold of John Boehner and homosexual predator Denny Hastert, did not have a fix for Obamacare, despite promising one, along with a current resident of the hottest district, John McCain, who promised a fix, then voted to retain Obamacare. So Democrats were able to win on health care issues, according to leftist publications like Vox. In their 11/21/2018 article, they listed the Democrat wins seat by seat, and tried to explain why and how.
With an assist from the election results portions of the Politico website, here they are:
Maine. The GOPer lost the seat because even though he came in first he didn’t get 50%. In that state, voters list preferences, so after the third party people were removed, the Dem had more second-place votes than the GOPer. The second-place votes of the remaining voters decided the election. Like something out of “Red Green.”
New York. Dems flipped three seats. Vox claimed the health care issue mattered.
New Jersey. Dems flipped four seats. Two were vacated by retiring GOPers. Vox claimed health care was an issue.
Pennsylvania. Dems flipped three seats. Vox said health care was important. Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court, with a Dem majority, ordered redistricting that made it easier for Dems to win these seats, two of which are in the Philadelphia area. GOPers flipped one Dem seat in a coal and manufacturing and rural area south of Pittsburgh.
Virginia. Dems flipped three seats. Redistricting cost Dave Brat his seat. Two GOP Trump opponents also lost. Also, many parasitical feds have moved into Virginia, making it a more Democrat state.
South Carolina. Kathy Arrington primaried anti-Trump GOP pervert Mark Sanford. Then someone hit her head-on with a car, landing her in the hospital and away from the campaign trail. A freak result; the Dem won close.
Georgia. Dems flipped an Atlanta area seat by a razor-thin margin. Demographics were key.
Florida. Dems flipped two seats. Mario Curbelo, a neverTrumper, lost his seat. Donna Shalala, a long-time Clintonista, won a seat vacated by a retiring GOPer. Debbie Wasserman Positive kept her hot seat in Coward County.
Texas. Dems flipped two seats. Influxes of Dem voters into the districts were factors in the flips.
Oklahoma. Dems flipped a seat in the Oklahoma City area. GOP incumbent was likely asleep at the switch.
Michigan. Dems flipped a seat a GOP retiree vacated.
Illinois. Dems flipped two seats. Two moderate GOPers in Chicago suburban districts lost, largely on health care issues, per Vox.
Minnesota. Dems flipped two GOP seats. GOP flipped two Dem seats. GOPers in farming and mining areas aligned with Trump and won. Dems in the suburbs of the Twin Cities flipped districts from establishment GOPers. (Source: Hibbing, Minnesota Daily Tribune, 11/19/2018)
Iowa. Dems flipped two seats. In one of the districts, Vox said, health care was the issue. Mollie Tibbetts, the girl evidently assaulted, murdered, and dumped in a cornfield by an illegal Mexican, belonged to a pro-immigrant family in an area with sanctuary towns. The district she lived and was an assault victim in and a murder victim in now has a leftist sanctuary Democrat as their congresswoman. Mollie died in vain … her family came out in favor of illegals and against those for controlling immigration. They imposed their own stupidity, which will lead to the rapes and murders of other victims.
Mollie Tibbetts and the Mojado accused of assaulting her and murdering her.
Kansas. Kevin Yoder, a hard-core neverTrump GOPer, lost.
Colorado. Mike Coffman, an adamant neverTrumper, lost.
New Mexico. Dems flipped a seat vacated by a retiring GOPer. Vote was close.
Arizona. Martha McSally’s hot seat was claimed by a Dem when she decided to run for Senate in the style of an illegitimate daughter of John McCain.
Utah. NeverTrumper Mia Love lost her seat to the Dem mayor of Salt Lake City.
Washington. Dems flipped a seat vacated by a retiring GOPer.
California. Four Dems beat four GOPers in Orange County by close margins, as the demographics are now Asian and Hispanic. Steve Knight, a neverTrumper, also lost in a northern L.A. County area district. Trump ally Jeff Denham, an almond farmer in the San Joaquin Valley, also lost, largely due to health care issues.
Ignore the blather about Donald Trump hurting the GOP.
GOPers, mostly those who distanced themselves from President Trump, lost many seats by close votes because the GOPers in Congress, led by globalist Paul Ryan, and hampered by John McCain, didn’t keep the GOP promise to replace Obamacare with a better system. Democrats are better at scaring old people and suburban moms by lying about Obamacare and by talking about pre-existing conditions then they are about making things right. President Trump was the only GOP candidate for president who wanted to cover pre-existing conditions without raping the people’s wallets and pocketbooks.
President Trump is more an American than he is a “true conservative.” He filters things through the litmus test: “Will this help the American people?”
Allegedly a lot of suburban women are against President Trump for his combative tone and insulting personality. These are the same hypocritical females who bought mommy porn like “Fifty Shades of Gray” in which the woman get locked up and entered in every way imaginable. Many of these “suburban women” who look down on President Trump as “crude” would lower themselves to “Fifty Shades of Gray” submission if they thought they had a shot at some rich man’s money. These are the same hypocritical females who voted for sex offenders and/or wife beaters and/or sex offender enablers like Bob Menendez in New Jersey, any Democrat in New York City and any statewide Democrat officeholder in that state, Tom Wolfe in Pennsylvania, Tom Carper in Delaware, She-Rod Brown in Ohio, Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan, girlfriend beater (allegedly) Keith Ellison in Minnesota, Claire McCaskill in Missouri (whose husband reportedly urinated on his first wife and slugged her cancerous breast, and Steve Sisolak in Nevada.
My explanation?
The suburbanites are voting for Dems on healthcare issues, and on globalism.
Yes, globalism. New York City, Los Angeles, the Frisco Bay Area, Seattle, Portland, and Boston are all dominated by globalist corporations and globalist entrepreneurs. Many of them are alternate lifestyle or unconventional (anti-Judeo Christian belief system).
Philadelphia and Chicago and Detroit are more conventional Democratic sewers being dominated by criminal machine Democrats, and have been for decades. New York City also has a formal Democrat machine criminal element.
Suburban upper middle class and richer voters, besides working for the companies that do a lot of business overseas, see themselves as our betters. Their attachment to globalist money and non-Judeo-Christian values meshes with their unconcern and foolishness on labor and farm and mining and logging issues.
People need blue collar work, but many companies underpay workers and will welcome illegals who will work off the books and under horrible labor conditions. Today’s leftist rich are okay with this. In fact, they say the wealth of the cities and suburbs is proof they are better than rural people in general, and better than working people and first responders and military people in particular. Can you spell E-L-I-T-I-S-T-S?
How do the Republicans solve suburbanites voting Democrat? In many cases they can’t solve it by selling out because too many suburbanites have embraced globalism and Donald Trump knows globalism is poison to American workers. The one thing the GOPers can do is aid in the replacement of Obamacare with health care coverage options that address pre-existing conditions and return competition to the insurance field.
Insurance companies didn’t fight Obamacare because the Magic Kenyan made everybody buy insurance. They got over.
Strip the political jargon and explain Obamacare honestly. Obamacare is basically like ordering a car with every conceivable option when you don’t need them because you have to take them. Why? Because it is illegal to sell insurance without being a broker or under the control of a broker. The broker is supposed to provide options, which lowers costs to customers because they don’t have to buy coverage they don’t need.
But since the inbreds who have government jobs selling Obamacare are not brokers, the drafters had to make all policies the same so the employees didn’t have to apply expertise they don’t have. They ask a person’s age, sex, income and smoking status, and if the person wants a gold, silver, or bronze plan. A chart tells the goof what the policy will cost, so the goof doesn’t have to know insurance to say what a policy will cost. This is why nuns are being ordered to pay for pregnancy care and abortions, and why lesbians are being forced to pay for vasectomies and prostate cancer treatments.
Pre-existing conditions could be put into a private plan because actuaries know percentages of people who have the various diseases or ailments that cost so much. Or there could be a risk pool program and/or Medicaid that could come out of everyone’s insurance or taxes to cover the truly needy.
There has not been a concerted Republican effort to devise good alternatives to Obamacare to the public. But there could be.
But that’s about all the suburbanites who look down on President Trump and American workers and first responders and military people deserve. Too many of them want what they shouldn’t get – globalist policies that will crush American workers and small entrepreneurs.
Republicans need to abandon the globalists and once again become the party of working Americans as well as entrepreneurs.
Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, was for farmers and tradesmen without hating the rich. So were Grant, Sherman, McKinley, and especially Teddy Roosevelt. Al Smith, the Democrat governor of New York, was the father of the modern labor laws and health codes …. he was a friend of like-minded Republicans and an opponent of rich Democrat progessives like FDR (whose family fortune came from selling opium to the Chinese), who demagogued class envy like the Democrats do today. The GOP in the 1930s swung behind the rich who weren’t in the Dems’ camp.
Lincoln and Grant. They inherited Zachary Taylor’s mission to preserve the Union. They also freed the slaves.
Ronald Reagan tried to reconnect with American laborers, farmers, and small businessmen, but the establishment GOP did not.
President Trump, despite his billions, wants a fair shake for farmers, blue collar workers, construction guys, miners, loggers, fishermen, and others who are not office dwellers. These people provide the military and the first responders, most of whom also are natural patriots.
This is where the Republican party should also be – asking the question “What will help Americans?” and then providing those policies that will do so.
The GOPers need to follow President Trump on advertising and branding also.
The label “true conservative” does not ring as well as “American Values” and “pro-American” “Square Deal” and “A Fair Shake” and “American Dream” or “Patriot and Nationalist” or “I’m with You.” Nor does it have an inherently pro-American connotation. Many people of good will see “conservatives” as Romney-style and Bush-style free trade lapdogs of the super rich. (The super-rich of the Left also cheat workers and underpay taxes. Amazon, owned by Jeff Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, is a prime example.)
“True Conservatives” like Barry Goldwater were for Planned Parenthood because Planned Parenthood doctors moonlighting as abortionists got the rich out of social jams and lowered the numbers of the poor. Margaret Sanger and her organization and the Bushes have a long history. That has flipped, as most Democrat politicians (and not a few GOPers) worship at Planned Parenthood’s altar of Moloch.
The kind of judges we want are just as “pro-American” as “conservative” because judges who are referees and not players (conservatives) will protect the Republic.
Think “Cowboy Code,” not “National Review.” America is something we love, not analyze. Firemen, cops, and military people are willing to lay down their lives for other Americans who need their help. They go by right or wrong, not GOP or Dem.
We have lived in a community which has a large number of black skilled tradesmen and white collar people. They didn’t look for trouble either …. they just want a piece of the pie like whites do. Our old neighborhood is at least a third black and it is still safe to walk at night. Unlike too many Republicans, President Trump understands this and reaches out to blacks routinely. As people, not as members of a hostile voting bloc.
Another problem the GOP needs to solve is “niceness.” Being nice gets Republicans nothing. Just ask former Congressman Curbelo how far his gracious gesture to the kid who threatened his life got him.
Gretchen Whitmer, the Ingham County (Lansing) prosecutor who I documented bungling the Michigan State sex offender investigation, called Michigan AG Bill Schuette, her opponent, a liar even though his people prosecuted Michigan State girl molester Larry Nassar and she did not. The MSU police chief referred the case to Schuette, not Gretchen, because he concluded she was going to take a dive on prosecuting Nassar on rape charges. Schuette looked like he had something to hide because the party attacked her but he didn’t, and he wasn’t strong in defending himself. Then Gretchen went to the “I was raped as a coed”card to claim her “martyrdom,” and Schuette didn’t challenge it.
Oh, boo hoo. Didn’t Christine Sixteen Blasey Ford and some copycats try that too?
Schuette would have been better off saying to Miss Gretchen, “If you were a rape victim, why were you unwilling to prosecute Larry Nassar for rape and MSU officials for the cover-up? And not give the victims the closure they deserved?” Schuette cowered when victims who were Democrats argued against “politicizing the crimes.” Schuette should have said it was he who punished the criminals, not Gretchen … that’s what grown-ups do. Afterward, Schuette ran away from President Trump, not with him.
Result? Gretchen won the governor race in Michigan easier than three-term Democrat Debbie Stabenow won re-election as senator over unknown but impressive Army officer and businessman John James, who is black.
In Ohio, Jim Renacci waited too long to expose Sherrod Brown as a wife beater and a sexual harasser. Brown went to the “you should be ashamed” card when Renacci finally mentioned it at a debate, and Brown’s partisans cheered and Renacci withered.
Renacci should have snarled, “Brown, you friggin’ liar! How dare YOU attack Judge Kavanaugh when there are court papers that explain your shameful wife-beating behavior? How dare YOU not be ashamed for being a wife beater and a prowler?”
I was at a Trump rally in Ohio several weeks ago. Jim Renacci, who spoke before the president, did not mention Brown’s problems. He had a nationally-covered platform to do so.
Pennsylvania GOP senator candidate Lou Barletta complained when Democrat incumbent senator Bob Casey made a health care ad that exploited Barletta’s grandchild. Political advisers apparently took him away from who he is, a hard-working scowling tough guy on immigration who many suspect is hitman-tough.
Barletta should have gone honest thug on Casey and said something like, “You, you wimp, are an unworthy son and an ass-kisser for sucking up to the very people who demonized your great father, who was a real man unafraid of taking a pro-life stance, not a social-climbing coward like you.” Barletta could have tied Penn State and Jerry Sandusky to Casey, because no one in power did anything about it for more than a decade, including Dems. In fact, the Obama Administration hired Spanier, the degenerate president of Penn State, after he was fired for the Jerry Sandusky cover-up. And Casey never spoke out against that.
Many of the alleged well-off GOP suburban women who complained about the incivility and tone of President Trump were hypocrites looking for an excuse. They and their husbands or boyfriends have lifestyles that depend on lower-income Americans they already look down on staying low-paid. They want to be the “in” crowd, like they tried to be in high school. Again, many of them who consider Trump crude are readers and viewers of the “50 Shades of Gray” stories and other varieties of “mommy porn.”
Anti-Trump suburban women caucus “50 Shades of Gray” style
Hypocrisy can’t be cured; it has to be exposed and mocked or ignored as legitimate input.
Republicans can be courteous when it is called for, but should attack the guilty and defend the innocent. GOPers have to treat lying female Democrats like President Trump treats Hillary. And they have to treat lying male Democrats like President Trump treats certain members of the media.
President Trump, when wrongly criticized by Chief Justice John Roberts, told him to shut his upper hole. President Trump in so doing published statistics showing the anti-American judges of the Ninth District who rule against his initiatives have been overturned at the Supreme Court level nearly 80% of the time on appeal.
Chief Justices are not sacred. Many of them ruled slavery was the law of the land. Roberts, who I believe has been compromised to the point of blackmail for doing something unethical, vile, or perverted, deserved the truth to be smacked in his face. Roberts never criticized President Obama when Barry illegally weaponized the government against dissidents.
President Trump, by insisting on fair trade, not free trade, is bringing jobs home. We outlawed slavery after the Civil War. There is no need to export slavery so servile labor firms in China and elsewhere can take away our work. Tariffs based on labor conditions and pollution conditions might be yet another way to compete. We are the best market in the world; we ought to be able to control who sells here, and on what terms.
President Trump is also pushing peace through military strength and economic leverage. He is taken seriously by other leaders. The Bushes, the Clintons, and Obama were not taken seriously. Getting out of Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Middle East would be a good idea. The GOP should embrace President Trump’s handling of foreign affairs, not whine like they are prone to do.
Theodore Roosevelt Visits Panama Canal Workers
Again, the party of Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt stood for farmers, small businessmen, and free labor. Even William McKinley was pro-labor and pro-tariff, although most GOP establishment people were not. Al Smith, a Democrat who was the father of labor standards and health codes, was an honest patriot who worked with Republicans to make the changes needed. After FDR stabbed him in the back, Smith endorsed GOP candidates at the cost of his own career.
The GOP used to have the votes of most blacks due to Lincoln and Grant. Progressive Democrat Woodrow Wilson brought Jim Crow to the federal government as he ordered the segregation of federal facilities.
FDR, while allowing his Southern Democrats to oppress blacks, made like he cared about them. The GOP did not. President Trump is trying to welcome blacks back to the GOP, and the party should embrace this. Blacks helped win the Civil War and preserve the Union …. their role in this should be stressed, along with their honorable deeds in American society since then. US Grant took Lincoln’s place in trying to integrate blacks, and Teddy Roosevelt tried, but the wrongful Plessy vs. Ferguson segregation ruling emboldened Southern Democrat bigots. General Sherman took the side of blacks against immigrants. It’s in the GOP’s interests to treat blacks like citizens instead of a Democrat voting bloc.
Republicans should also support President Trump’s immigration policies.
Fighting against illegals who commit crimes and Democrats who run the sanctuary movement is a winner. Exposing the nonprofits who benefit from the illegal trade is a winner, even though many of them are part of church groups. Many Catholics and Baptists and Lutherans oppose their hierarchies’ desires to make money resettling illegals.
Dems who attack President Trump bring up Abraham Lincoln as a “malice toward none” guy, which he was. But he was also a “mercy tempered by justice” and “duty first” guy. If President Trump followed Lincoln’s example, the major cities of the nation would be in ruins and many Democrat officeholders would be hunted fugitives, because they are Copperheads, Secessionists, and practical traitors at war against the American public.
The Dems and lightweight GOPers like John Kasich are also too kind to sex offenders. We will cover this in a post in the very near future. Suffice it to say taking valid actions against sex offenders and pinning the sex offender pal tail on the Democrat donkeys fits and will hurt them in future elections from the presidential race all the way down to races in counties, cities, and towns.
The GOP started as the party of the small farmers and the mechanics, not the bankers or the slaveholders. They were the people who ended slavery. The GOP should revert to their roots. They should have room for the self-made man and woman, and the wage-earning man and woman. If you work, you shouldn’t be cheated or abused if you are an employee…. or penalized if you are an honest owner and entrepreneur. This is Mr. Trump’s message. It should be the message of the Republican Party too.
Mr. Trump is like Zachary Taylor, the president who Abe Lincoln followed in war and in peace, in having the enmity of the Democrats and the elitists of his own party against him. He has the toughness to know he is right and will not let lesser people force him away from solutions that will help the American people. We should let him know we support him, and we should let the weasel politicians know we support them only to the extent that they will help President Trump deliver for the American people. Zachary Taylor knew the political class was against him but the people were for him, so knowing he had peoples’ support sustained him in performing his duties as president.
Taylor, the president who Abraham Lincoln admired and eulogized, said, “The only ground of hope for the continuance of our free institutions is in the proper moral and religious training of the children, that they may be prepared to discharge aright the duties of men and citizens.”
We need to embrace history, instill a love of country in our young people, and learn from history. This is the job that we as Dads and Moms, Uncles and Aunts, Grandpas and Grandmas must do. And we must starve the public schools from kindergarten to the universities until they stop their war upon America. Fund math and hard sciences, not crazy social studies programs with their leftist agitprop apparatchiks.
When it comes to your nation and your loved ones, you are your own first responder. Not counting the direct intervention of God, an alert and armed public is our best defense against the abuses of the officeholders.
SHERLOCK JUSTICE
WE CAN SHOW YOU HOW TO BE YOUR OWN DETECTIVE.
