Haggard Merle’s Abortionists: A Woman’s Right to Know

Sherlock
July27/ 2018

Not many women can say they went to work for an abortion mill owner, serviced him sexually, got him to divorce his wife, married him, then took over the abortion mill when he croaked, Even Stormy Daniels can’t stoop this low, huh?

Merle Hoffman, 72, can, for she is the owner of that brief life description. She got with a much older abortion mill owner, did him repeatedly, got him to push his wife aside, ran his abortion mill for him, then took it over when the sand ran out of the greedy old shit’s hourglass.

Merle used her influence and money often over the years. She has kept her Choices Women’s Medical Center abortion mill in New York City running despite hiring a guy who carved his initials in a woman’s abdomen, another who was involved in killing two women with abortions, and others with poor malpractice records.

Recently, Ms. Merle picked up the phone, called Albany, and got corrupt New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to abuse the law and file charges against a bunch of protesters outside her abortion mill for her. Soon a baker’s dozen of protesters were hauled into federal court to face Shysterman’s demand for an injunction designed to make them go away.

Merle and her abortion escorts claimed a number of things at trial. They claimed the abortion protesters, many who were members from a nearby church, harassed and assaulted women, and blocked entrance to her abortion mill. The defendants said all they did was witness to the evil of abortion and ask women to consider saving their babies’ lives.

Haggard Merle Hoffman. Millionare abortion mill owner.

In the rabidly pro-abort New York Times, a July 22 article by Jeffery Mays said this:

“But in a ruling issued late Friday denying the request for the injunction, Judge Carol Bagley Amon of the Federal District Court for the Eastern District said the attorney general’s office “failed to show” that any of the 13 defendants “had the intent to harass, annoy, or alarm” patients, their companions or the people escorting women into the clinic.

“The interactions on the sidewalk outside Choices were generally quite short, and there is no credible evidence that any protester disregarded repeated requests to be left alone over an extended period or changed his or her tone or message in response to requests to be left alone in a way that suggested an intent to harass, annoy, or alarm,” Judge Amon wrote in her decision.”

Jeffy was upset with the judge. Problem is she (Judge Amon) saw Schneiderman’s state-paid shysters put on a fake case to aid a truly evil businesswoman.

Schneiderman, who has spent his adult life at the public trough posing as a defender of women, wasn’t there to draw the female judge’s rebuke. Schneiderman resigned in disgrace when multiple women outed him as a sadist who beat them during sex. (Former New York AG and governor Elliot Spitzer, also a pro-abortion “feminist” Democrat, also reportedly beat and choked a prostitute in 2016 and threatened to have her arrested. Like they did for Harvey Weinstein, corrupt New York City prosecutors kept the police from arresting Spitzer.) (Source: New York Post, 11/29/2017)

It’s unclear whether Shysterman’s successor, party hack Barbara Underwood, will appeal the case.

The pro-aborts have not yet begun to apologize for Shysterman.

Or for Merle Hoffman, for that matter.

So why are we talking about her?

99 and I did some work to help the protesters. We were given two weeks to get what we could. And what we did you could do, from the comfort of your own home.

I will cover what we did so you can do likewise if you or someone you know has to fight an opponent with a lot of money but a bankrupt character.

99 hit the Internet to get articles and other info about Merle Hoffman. Most articles were worshipful because in the cult of leftism, abortion is a sacred ritual.

99 also found Merle Hoffman wrote an autobiography and donated her papers to a university. Lots of people with money crave publicity, so articles and private papers of these people can be accessible. And often times they will contain clues that lead to things that will not reflect well on them.

I figured out a way to download Merle Hoffman’s autobiography without paying for it. Why give money to an abortionist?

Ms. Hoffman started in the abortion business in the 1970s. Per her autobiography “Intimate Wars,” Ms. Merle was an employee and intimate whore of Doctor Martin Gold, the cofounder of Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (HIP), an early HMO. She said Gold started the Flushing Women’s Center abortion facility in Queens in early 1971, just after abortion became legal in New York. She said he saw it as a great business opportunity.

Merle Hoffman, whose education was in psychology, not medicine, said HIP gave Martin Gold a promotion to run a facility in Queens. So she said she handled the day-to-day management of Gold’s abortion mill, which was in the same building. The psych schooling helped her manipulate public officials and media people better. It didn’t seem to help her in hiring competent help. (More on this later.)

Gold set up Ms. Hoffman as “executive director” of the facility. He in time would divorce his wife Bernice. He would later marry Merle Hoffman, 28 years his junior. This was after Merle admitted she was foolish enough to try to throw compromising Polaroids of herself in the trash at the business, and a rival fished them out.

In the same book, Merle Norman claims her health care orientation is “patient power.”

Many of her facility’s patients have felt empowered to sue her business and the abortionists she hires. Over the years Mistress Merle has hired some of the most notorious bottom feeders in New York to do abortions for her.

Ms. Hoffman’s abortion mill is in Queens, one of the boroughs of New York City. It first went by the name of Flushing Women’s Medical Center. Were they flushing aborted baby body parts? Instead of selling them for profit, like Planned Parenthood’s scumbags evidently do?

In her autobiography Ms. Hoffman said state inspectors shut down Flushing Women’s Medical Center in 1971 for a raft of deficiencies. They were allowed to reopen four months later.

Later Merle Hoffman changed the name of the abortion business to Choices Women’s Medical Center. For years it was in the Long Island City section of Queens. Apparently she had trouble with landlords. Her publication says her abortion mill was evicted from two other locations.

This was all nice to know stuff. It would help when I looked for lawsuits against Ms. Hoffman.

New York is a state that allows abortionists to feed at the Medicaid trough. And feed they do. Planned Parenthood takes in about $50 million a year, per their tax records, which are open to the public because Planned Parenthood affiliates are nonprofits.

So I got into the New York State Medicaid records on line. They showed there were 11 licensed professionals allowed to accept Medicaid at Choices Women’s Medical Center if you punch in the address. Only two were physicians. None was a nurse or a pharmacist or an anesthesiologist. The remainder were shrinks and social workers.

I now had the names of two abortion providers and the various names of Ms. Hoffman’s slaughterhouse.

Articles 99 and I found about Ms. Hoffman gave me two other of her hired abortionists’ names.

Now it was time to look up lawsuits.

New York City has five boroughs; each one is a county. Each borough has its own courthouse. For the record these are Bronx, Queens, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), and Richmond (Staten Island). Also, Long Island has two counties (Nassau and Suffolk) that are not a part of New York City.

New York, which for years, was a very hard state for public records access, now has a statewide index of lawsuits on line.

But computer website people make errors like you and I do. So do courthouse employees. So I used the state database, then I found extra cases in the various county databases. Here’s what I found:

One physician listed was Jay A. Bassell. Here’s a little on him:

Jay Bassell MD was sued for abortion malpractice while he was working at Parkmed Eastern Women’s Center, 38-44 E. 30th St., New York, NY 10016 (Manhattan). His reported victim’s case was 103526/2006, filed in New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan. She charged Bassell botched the abortion and she had to have the rest of the baby removed at the emergency room of a hospital.

Here is another case involving Bassell in New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan:

124455/2000 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) v. BASSELL JAY (MP)
124455/2000 (PLAINTIFF) v. BASSELL JAY (same case)

The same case number implies a parent and child victim.

Here is another case involving Bassell in Queens County Supreme Court:

20384/2009 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) vs. BASSELL MD,JAY ALAN ET AL

Here is another case involving Bassell in Bronx County Supreme Court:

14874/1999 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) vs. PARKMED, DR.JAY BASSELL

Reputedly a pic of Jay Bassell

The NY Doctor Profile database notes Bassell, who went to medical school in Israel, has privileges at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Jamaica, Queens.

Bassell is no spring chicken either. He has held a New York license since 1984. The license shows him as never reporting any malpractice cases either.

Bassell is not Merle Norman’s worst hire.

She hired David Gluck, an illegal drug seller who killed a woman he performed an abortion on at her facility.

She maintained Enayat Hakim-Elahi as her medical director. In her autobiography she claimed she fired Hakim-Elahi for incompetence, and hired Allan Zarkin.

Zarkin, aka Dr. Zorro, is best known as the OB who carved his initials into a women’s abdomen after delivering her baby.

Here’s the record on Zarkin:

The New York State Department of Health Professional Misconduct and Physician Discipline group had Zarkin surrender his license in 2000. Their summary read: “The physician agreed that he could not successfully defend against at least one of the charges of gross negligence; negligence on more than one occasion; verbally or physically abusing a patient; conduct which evidences moral unfitness; practicing medicine while impaired and having a psychiatric condition which impairs his ability to practice medicine. The physician previously agreed on January 6, 2000 in a non disciplinary order of conditions pursuant to New York State Public Health Law Section 230 to cease the practice of medicine until an order was issued by the New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct.”

Merle Hoffman hired Zarkin after he committed a number of acts of medical malpractice, sexual harassment, abuse of subordinate nurses (including abuse of a nurse who had to physically keep him from mistreating a newborn infant), and other unprofessional actions while working at Beth Israel Hospital or in private practice.

Mistress Merle kind of blamed her dead husband, Martin Gold, for her hire of Zarkin. Of course she evidently did no checking on Zarkin beyond seeing if he wanted to do abortions for her.

Here is a list of malpractice and/or other cases involving Zarkin in New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan:

111054/1993 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) v. ZARKIN ALLAN (MP)
122639/1999 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) v. ZARKIN ALLAN (“Zorro” victim)
100345/2001 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) v. ZARKIN ALLAN (MP)
100345/2001 (infant) v. ZARKIN ALLAN (same case)
109806/2004 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) v. ZARKIN ALLAN (MP – birth defects)
109806/2004 (infant) v. ZARKIN ALLAN (same case)

In two instances, the same case number implies a parent and child victim.

Here is a case involving Zarkin in Queens County Supreme Court:

20449/2000 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) vs. ZARKIN ALLAN, M.D. ETANO

Ambulance at Planned Parenthood. A common sight.

Here’s some info on Enayat Hakim-Elahi:

NY Doctor Profile database shows Hakim-Elahi graduated from medical school in Iran in 1959. His license next renews in 2019. It also shows he never reported any malpractice cases.

Here’s what is public record about Hakim-Elahi’s malpractice record:

In Manhattan, a girl sued Hakim-Elahi. This teenage girl accused Planned Parenthood staffers of botching an abortion performed on her at the Manhattan Planned Parenthood facility in 1990. As a result, she said, she suffered serious and permanent injuries, had to undergo another abortion and followup treatment, and was unable to work for a while. She said she was receiving treatment and medication for post-abortion syndrome. Hakim-Elahi worked for Planned Parenthood before working for Ms. Hoffman. (Source: Case No. 101971/1993, New York Supreme Court)

In Brooklyn, the mother of another teen girl charged Planned Parenthood staffers committed medical malpractice on her, causing her bodily injuries, when they worked on her at the Manhattan Planned Parenthood facility. She named staffers E. Hakim-Elahi and Sunthorn Bunyaviroch in the case. (Source: Case No. 19873/1979, Kings County Supreme Court)

A check of the Queens County on-line court records database showed the following cases involving Dr. Hakim-Elahi:

1527/1973 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) vs. DR E HAKIN ELAHI ET AL
17559/1979 (FEMALE PLAINTIFF) vs. ELAHI, H. ENAYAT

Merle Hoffman employed David Gluck. Here’s his most infamous case.

Alerte Desanges, a 36-year-old Haitian immigrant, a mother of three, died September 16, 1994 after she underwent an abortion at the hands of an abortion provider whose staffers had earlier killed another woman with an abortion. According to two published accounts, this is what happened to Alerte, and this is the background of Merle Hoffman’s hire David Gluck, the man who reportedly killed her:

Alerte decided to undergo the abortion because the baby was deformed. David Gluck performed the abortion on her at the Choices Women’s Medical Center in Queens about 10 a.m. on September 16. But she became “argumentative” while recovering from the abortion, said Merle Hoffman, the woman who was the facility’s director, and suddenly her vital signs went flat. Alerte was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died at 2 p.m. that afternoon.

Alerte supported her elderly mother and three daughters on her small caretaker’s salary. Her mother sobbed, “What are we going to do? Where are we going to go? We can’t go back to Haiti!”

Ms. Hoffman claimed Alerte died of a heart attack or an amniotic embolism, a standard excuse abortion providers use when a woman dies from an abortion. But Alerte’s mother wasn’t buying that excuse. “She wasn’t sick or anything,” Alerte’s mother said. “She didn’t have a bad heart. I don’t understand what happened.”

New York authorities ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of Alerte’s death.

Publicity surrounding Alerte’s death was not Gluck’s first taste of bad PR. Gluck’s Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health (CRASH) in Manhattan was closed for 60 days in 1988 after a teenager undergoing an abortion there died because of staffers’ mistakes. Gluck himself operated on a suspended license for three years for a felony conviction for selling drugs meant for medical use for personal profit. Ms. Hoffman said Gluck was pushing drugs to pay for his gambling habit.

(Sources: a 9/17/94 New York Daily News article, and a 9/30/88 Associated Press article)

In her self-serving autobiography, Mistress Merle wrote, “I had a tremendously difficult time with this fatality.

I took many trail rides on Hollywould, my beautiful Arabian horse, trying to come to terms with the reality of her death—and the challenge of having my face and Choices smeared all over television, radio, and print media. These catastrophic events happened everywhere, but this one happened at Choices, and that made all the difference. I was forced to make an excuse for something that was impossible to make an excuse for. Since I was not a medical doctor, I was dependent on my physicians’ expertise—but as the CEO of Choices, I was ultimately responsible for what happened there.

Dr. David Gluck, who had performed the abortion, had previously had his license suspended because he’d been writing illegal prescriptions to fund his gambling habit. He was an excellent doctor, though, and an ally wholly committed to women’s reproductive freedom. Marty’s recognition of this and his willingness to hire and supervise Dr. Gluck at Choices during the five years of his probation had saved his career.”

Merle Hoffman did business with David Gluck despite knowing he was a drug seller, and a possible threat to steal controlled substances, and knowing about this earlier debacle and needless death in which his lack of effective supervision was cited.

It is interesting to see Ms. Merle conceded in so many words abortionists were killing girls and women a lot more often than the media were reporting these outrages.

She named the horse she bought with babies’ blood “Hollywould.” How apt. Merle would. Merle did. Repeatedly.

Here’s another Gluck-up.

K.B. aka Jane Roe of Manhattan 1988. A New York coed (a 19-year-old known as K.B.) died August 10, 1988 from complications stemming from anesthesia improperly administered by an abortion provider at the Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health (CRASH) in Manhattan.

New York state Department of Health officials investigated the case, according to an Associated Press article, concluded that K.B. died at a nearby hospital after the abortion because of the staffers’ mistakes and failures, and ordered the facility closed for 60 days.

A Department of Health official said K.B. died at a nearby hospital shortly after the abortion because of the substandard way she was anesthetized. The agency’s officials said the facility presented an “imminent danger” to its abortion patients.

State agents determined the following, as noted in an affidavit filed by New York Department of Health official Lora Winters:

Abortion provider Colin David Howard Bailey started the abortion on K.B. about noon on August 10. Nurse anesthetist Ella Rosenheck was the other staffer involved. They were using no monitoring equipment on K.B. Evidently, Bailey and/or Ms. Rosenheck thought it was taking longer than normal to put K.B. under, so Ms. Rosenheck gave K.B. a second dose of anesthesia 10 minutes after K.B. got the first dose.

Shortly afterward, Bailey and Ms. Rosenheck said they became aware K.B. was having problems. They said they saw her complexion turn pale, her blood turn dark, her breathing become shallow, her pulse become weak, and her eyes dilate and become unresponsive. After failing to improve K.B.’s condition, the pair evidently had an ambulance called for K.B. about 1 p.m. Paramedics rushed to CRASH. They took her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 2 p.m.

State agents charged doctors didn’t properly regulate the amount of anesthetic given to K.B., they failed to use proper monitoring equipment and procedures during the abortion, and they didn’t have proper equipment and procedures in place to resuscitate her.

State agents also noted there was no supervising anesthesiologist on staff even though health agents had gigged CRASH for running without one in 1986. They noted CRASH had a broken EKG machine and didn’t seem to have a defibrillator. They were also perturbed that it took 35 to 50 minutes for Bailey and Ms. Rosenheck to have an ambulance called when they knew K.B. was in serious trouble and they couldn’t seem to pull her out of it by themselves.

The agents were not amused with the way CRASH staffers were administering anesthetic, either. Instead of measuring doses of anesthetic, they said, CRASH staffers estimated doses they gave to women “by eye” as they administered them from a plastic bag which they used on a number of women until it was empty.

Further, they were less than impressed with facility medical director David Gluck and with CRASH for hiring him to run their facility. They noted facility people couldn’t produce documents showing his credentials. They also noted, “There is virtually no evidence that Dr. Gluck in fact provides any meaningful medical supervision.” Since Gluck was convicted for drug offenses before Stanley Bernstein and/or other CRASH board members tabbed him to be the place’s medical director, the agents said CRASH’s decision making “raises serious questions concerning the review and credentialing process preceding his appointment.”

Ms. Winters and other agents noted Gluck had previously been convicted on felony charges in federal court in 1987 of trying to sell drugs meant for medical use for personal profit. State officials had revoked his license two months before his people performed the abortion that killed K.B., but his attorney arranged a court order temporarily blocking the revocation.

Case records available on line show she accused Gluck of botching an abortion he performed on her.

Gluck obtained a New York doctor license in 1971.

NY Doctor Profile database shows Gluck listed National Abortion Federation activities – including his second trimester abortion procedures.

The New York State Department of Health Professional Misconduct and Physician Discipline group had this to say about Gluck:

“The Board of Regents stayed the revocation of the physician’s New York State medical license and placed him on probation for five years effective March 6, 1991.The Board of Regents later issued a modification of the terms of probation, where the physician’s practice was subject to conditions and limited to facilities licensed under New York State Public Health Law Article 28.The physician has satisfied the terms of the order.

Previously the New York State Board of Regents on June 29, 1988 sustained the charge finding the physician guilty of having been convicted of Conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and revoked his New York State medical license.”

This was the result of Gluck’s New York and/or federal conviction for prescribing and/or selling controlled substances illegally, allegedly to pay off his gambling debts.

This was the excellent doctor Merle hired to set loose on her patients.

About the time “Doctor Zorro” and Merle Hoffman parted company, she apparently decided to do business with Shaban Simaee.

Simaee, who went to medical school in Iran and got a New York doctor license in 1979, was involved in another abortion business, Ambulatory Surgery Center of Brooklyn. He went to court against his partners, claiming they cut him out. (Simaee v Levi 2005 NY Slip Op 07517 [22 AD3d 559] October 11, 2005 Appellate Division, Second Department Published by New York State Law Reporting Bureau pursuant to Judiciary Law § 431.)

Simaee drew a $10,000 fine and license probation in 2005 for forging documents about completing continuing education he was supposed to take but didn’t. He had given copies of these to Choices Women’s Medical Center. This I found on the New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct website.

Marla Anne Cardamone, above. She died from a legal abortion. Her mother provided this picture, and the picture they took of her at the coroner’s office. I withheld the latter, as it is extremely sad. Many of you would cry or vomit if you saw what that poor girl looked like at the end.

Belinda Byrd, right. She died from a legal abortion also. He family also provided this photo of her, which was printed in a newspaper.

According to LEAGLE, Choices Women’s Medical Center sued Lorna McBurnette, the Executive Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health in 1995. The case went to appellate court (217 AD 2d 623 (1995). Apparently Hoffman and/or her people tried to claim a rent increase was a major capital expense, and the authorities were not buying it. There appeared to be some other issues as well.

Since we had only two weeks, we couldn’t go to New York and pull all the cases. Online summaries of the cases noted malpractice, and sometimes the note (MP) did. I purposely scrubbed the names of female plaintiffs. Many of the cases not specifically called malpractice were in fact also malpractice cases. One of these was the case in which a woman sued Allan Zarkin for cutting his initials into her. (I know the woman’s name as it was reported in the papers and she showed what Zarkin did to her.)

And “Adminx” means administratrix (female administrator). This means either the real victim was a minor whose mother was filing the case or was an adult who died.

The newspaper articles 99 and I found speak for themselves.

Recently Merle Hoffman has been pimping abortionist Amy Cousins as the face of her mill in Queens. Funny thing is Amy has been doing a lot of her work in Binghamton, NY, about 200 miles northwest of the Big Apple.

I surfed the net a little, found a tie between Amy Cousins and a mill in Vestal NY, near Binghamton, and called the joint. A female answered, “Doctor Cousins’ office.”

But the Medicaid and Medicare charge info shows she is getting paid for abortion and non abortion work at Choices Women’s Medical Center in Queens.

Amy’s Vestal office shows she has a nurse practitioner Susan Seibold Simpson (ND) non doctor. Amy notes a nurse practitioner named Susan Seibold Simpson is handling her Vestal mill every second Saturday.

Amy Cousins and a guy responsible for a number of abortions.

One of the ads on Amy Cousins and Susan Seibold Simpson in Binghamton touts their ability to be gentle yet thorough with older lesbians. How thoughtful.

Two lawsuits and address databases available on the Net show Amy also has apparently had a pad in Manhattan.

The 2/3/2014 New Yorker article “Botched Operation” shows Steve Brigham reached out to Amy Cousins to work for him as an abortionist. She mustn’t have been too good if he thought he could land her. (Vikram Kaji, the abortionist who literally screwed his female patients, and other stooges with medical licenses have worked for Brigham over the years.)

Amy Cousins may have been having problems due to Medicaid. Some abortion facilities people complain Medicaid doesn’t pay enough per abortion compared with non Medicaid abortion states, where abortionists can charge what the market will bear.

A 12/7/2015 article by Mattie Quinn on www.governing.com about abortion mills closing in Democrat dominated states mentions Amy’s Binghamton mill. She wrote:

“In Vestal, N.Y., a town on the border with Pennsylvania, Dr. Amy Cousins runs an independent abortion clinic serving women in New York and northern Pennsylvania. It’s the only abortion provider in the area that accepts Medicaid, the government-sponsored health insurance for low-income people, and this is causing them financial problems.

Only 17 states let Medicaid funds cover an abortion that isn’t a product of rape, incest or endangers the life of the mother. So independent clinics have to rely on volume of abortions, as well as community support, to operate. Clinics can choose to stop accepting Medicaid, as some Planned Parenthood and private clinics have done, but that means women travel longer distances to get one.

“Medicaid is notorious for paying low and slow,” said Peg Johnston, director of Access for Women, a company that manages the clinic. “Currently the clinic is only reimbursed $230 for its first trimester abortion services, and that’s a number that hasn’t changed in 20 years.” The average cost of the abortion pill, an option for women up to nine weeks pregnant, is $490.

Because New York made more low-income people eligible for government-sponsored health insurance in recent years, about 30 percent of the population now relies on Medicaid. “This means we’re often reimbursed for just 50 percent of the work we do. It’s a stretch to keep our doors open, and I don’t see an end in sight,” she said.”

How truly sad.

Amy Cousins advertises to underage girls (and the dudes and family members who impregnate them) to come to her mill in the Binghamton area. She also advertises to the Syracuse and Cornell coed crowd and to lesbians nearby and in the Finger Lakes area [sic].

A staffer to Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) caught her advertising to underage girls in Pennsylvania to duck the parental consent laws in the Keystone State. And one of those leftist “fact checker” dirtbags called Portman’s charge true.

It’s possible most of Amy’s abortions in her Vestal charnel house are not done on Medicaid except for college kids and underage girls, but enough are that she’s feeling some pinch.

Girls have to endure malpractice because the alternative is admitting they drove out of state to an abortionist. Ditto if the guy who did her is a statutory rapist. And it is not uncommon for the mother of a guy who committed at least statutory rape or the older female bed partner of a guy who committed incest or rape of a girl in the home to take the victim girl across state lines for an abortion to keep her son or dude out of jail. The older broad will tell the girl to shut her pretty little mouth too if she knows what’s good for her.

Most of Pennsylvania is abortion-free, by custom. New York, which spawned Planned Parenthood’s illegitimate mother Margaret Sanger in Corning, west of Binghamton, has been abortion friendly and the upstate towns have had little colleges and suffragettes and feminists for generations. Binghamton NY is in this area, and is somewhat of a road hub in the area. Syracuse University, an hour or so north, has a lot of incautious coeds. So does Cornell University, about an hour northwest.

But Planned Parenthood affiliates put abortion mills in Syracuse, Ithaca (Cornell’s town), Rochester, and elsewhere within an hour or so of Binghamton. Besides, a gal looking for a little privacy could drive to Albany from the area and get hooked up at a Planned Parenthood in the capital area. Or she might drive to NYC and make a weekend of the abortion experience, assuming she doesn’t suffer complications requiring medical treatment. (But there is backup. NYC’s emergency room doctors have become good at patching up victims of botched abortions because they have had so much practice.) Planned Parenthood is unfair competition for Amy, as they get many millions of dollars in taxpayer money she doesn’t get.

Most elitists prefer New York City to being out in New York’s Appalachia unless the money and companionship are right. Amy went to Harvard Medical School and interned in the Big Apple but maybe her skills or personality seemed to have been bad enough (or she was lured out there) she had to fall into doing abortions in the boonies, and deal with young girls from Pennsylvania’s Appalachian counties to fill out her appointment book. And Medicaid abortions may not apparently be paying enough for her lifestyle.

Or, more positively, maybe Amy likes the area as a getaway, and set up a business to justify her expenses going to the area. We’ll end the speculation here.

Various patient reviews of Amy Cousins show her doing work at Choices … and at her mill in Vestal NY. Patient reviews are available to the public, but may not be true.

Looking at her websites and other info on her like addresses and lawsuits leads the reader to conclude Amy has been working in the Binghamton area, but she has a Central Park South address in Manhattan and at least one rent control apartment lawsuit.

The New York State Medicaid insurance website in early 2018 was listing her as a provider at 147-32 Jamaica in Queens (Merle Hoffman’s address). Jay Bassell is also listed there.

Merle Hoffman’s filthy facility has been hit for a number of ugly health code violations over the years. State officials shuttered her mill for its charnel house approach to medicine temporarily in 2000.

Per the Queens Courier in a 3/16/2000 article, “Signor (a New York State Department of Health official) said the department found blood on patient transporting tables and malfunctioning equipment in the operating room. He said that the violations were corrected by Choices.”We wish they wouldn’t play PR games in talking to the press,” he said.

Hoffman, 52, told The Queens Courier that the state gave Choices approval to re-open its surgical facilities two weeks ago, but not until the clinic had been slapped with a $60,000 fine and ordered to buy $120,000 worth of new equipment for the operating rooms.

She told The Courier that she was stunned when she learned that Zarkin had carved his initials in a patients stomach an action that lost him his medical license. “He betrayed me,” Hoffman said. “This is no House of Zorro, He did irreparable damage.”

Hoffman hired him (Allan “Dr. Zorro” Zarkin) as medical director at a salary of $300,000 a year and claims he never told her about his malpractice at Beth Israel. She said she had known Zarkin for 20 years and once had the highest regard for him. “He even worked for me for seven years. I found him to be a fine physician, but I can’t forgive him for keeping the carving incident to himself. I should have been informed.”

Note Ms. Merle’s tears for herself and not Doctor Zorro’s patients. Merle Hoffman in her flatulent autobiography compared running an abortion mill and profiting like a millionaire to surviving 9-11. She is narcissistic and exhibitionistic and is not overly sensitive to the public at large.

OB-GYN reviews on line indicate some displeasure with Amy Cousins but especially with Choices in terms of waiting. Amy got some nice comments but a few said she didn’t give them complete info.

The facility’s personnel trolls likely give their people sparkling reviews. The complaints from patients range from excessive wait times to staff rudeness to Amy herself being a rude bitch, and those with complications complained they got no followup help.

One mentioned a Dr. Winter at Choices being “sweet.” Most doctors named Winter are ancient or out of practice. No female Winter practices as a doctor on Long Island. Only a Darius C. Winter (got his medical degree in Romania in the 1950s) has a lawsuit in Queens and is listed as still working at this ripe old age.

There is no nurse practitioner or physician assistant named Winter on the New York license database who matches working at Choices.

Who is Winter? Is he or she even a doctor? Are the comments fake, or do they have someone coming in to do abortions under an assumed name or from a long way off?

A 7/22/2012 article titled “A biz boom no one can brag about” in Crain’s New York Business noted as abortionists were leaving the (mal) practice in other states, New York abortionists were fighting for more business from out of state. But the article also noted abortion providers were starting to do non-abortion practice to rake in the cash. (Abortion is largely a cash up front business for those who are not Medicaid users.)

They wrote, “Some clinics, including Choices, are diversifying into prenatal care and other women’s health services.”

“We’ve seen a 100% increase in demand for prenatal services,” said Ms. (Merle) Hoffman—due in part to the facility’s move three months ago to a busy commercial and residential area and a brand-new office suite on Jamaica Avenue. She expects that between new out-of-state visitors and Jamaica’s relatively high rate of teen pregnancy, the center’s abortion business will pick up by about 20%.”

Hidden in a 2014 edition of the leftist publication “Truthout” in the pro-abortion article “New York City Clinic Offers Abortions and Prenatal Care to Underscore the Reproductive Justice Continuum” is the financial hit Merle Hoffman has taken in abortion numbers. Merle Hoffman has been working hard to pull out-of-state abortion business and is probably really pulling in “counseling” money with all the “counselors” and “psychologists” she has pulling Medicaid money. Merle wouldn’t be a good business woman if she didn’t try to pull some of that from these people for “facility rent” and “ancillary services” and whatnot.

The article named many of Merle Hoffman’s female Medicaid sucking shrinks, counselors, and social workers. The author didn’t mention two male Medicaid sucking shrinks on staff.

Speaking of resource sucking, Merle is also a tax deadbeat and an apparent money launderer per the Panama Papers articles. IRS and state tax records exist on her for owing substantial amounts of money. AG Schneiderman still served her despite her deadbeatism.

The Suffolk County, NY Clerks Office listed the following liens and judgments against Merle Hoffman, a resident of the tony county, in early 2018:

These were also public records available on line.

Not many women could admit she copulated her way to ownership of an abortion mill, hire Doctor Zorro, compare herself to 9-11 victims, hose the public of taxes on her lucrative taxpayer subsidized abortion mill, be a tax deadbeat, and still use the Attorney General of New York as a private lawyer for free to deprive citizens of their liberties — and get good press. But Merle Hoffman has done all of the above. Most media people will eat any excrement a leftist puts in front of them.

We’ll close with a closing:

The New York State Health Department shut down Choice’s Women’s Medical Center temporarily in 2000 for Merle Hoffman’s unique definition of “patient power” in practice. This is the press release that describes the pigpen Mistress Merle was running:

“Albany, February 3–The State Health Department today ordered Choices Women’s Medical Center in Long Island City to immediately cease all operating room procedures until serious violations posing a risk to vulnerable women’s health are corrected and corrective action is verified.

“This investigation is part of an ongoing surveillance initiative to ensure New Yorkers receiving health care in all types of clinics are receiving the highest quality care. High quality health care is a right and one I intend to protect for all of our citizens. People using clinics for services ranging from childhood vaccinations to routine medical care need to know that these facilities in their communities are safe and top notch,” State Health Commissioner Antonia C. Novello, M.D., M.P.H. said.

In an 11 page Statement of Deficiencies (SOD), the State Health Department detailed numerous violations by Choices Women’s Medical Center of Part 750 and other applicable sections of Title 10 of New York’s Consolidated Rules and Regulations. A letter accompanying the SOD described the combined deficiencies as representing “serious systemic problems that pose a significant risk to welfare and safety of patients,” and “an intolerable situation that cannot continue to exist.”

Following are among the deficiencies identified as a result of the State Health Department investigation:

A review of Operating Room logs revealed that procedures are performed every five minutes. The schedule does not allow adequate time to assess patients prior to surgery, to monitor patients or to clean and prepare the room for the next patient.

Surgical equipment is not properly maintained; OR tables are old and unable to be positioned adequately.

There is only one defibrillator on the premises for use in four operating rooms and a recovery room.

The clinic has no functioning equipment to monitor patients under general anesthesia for whom endotracheal tubing is required.

There is no effective infection control program within the facility.
Nurse staffing is inadequate–during an on–site inspection only one R.N. and two nursing assistants were available to care for 22 post–surgical patients.

Physician credentialing and Quality Assurance are ineffective. Problems are not being identified nor corrected.

A physician on the facility’s staff has a positive PPD (Tuberculosis screening) test; however there was no appropriate clinical follow up.

Despite a letter on November 4, 1999 from Dr. Allan Zarkin’s psychiatrist notifying Choices that Dr. Zarkin suffers from a brain disorder that could compromise his clinical judgment and performance, no supervisory measures were initiated.

Dr. Zarkin was allowed to perform laparoscopic surgery at Choices, although he was not credentialed to do so.

Although the facility reported adverse incidents, as is required by law, the incidents either were inadequately described or not described at all.

Some of the violations were cited in the wake of the Department’s separate probe of Dr. Zarkin, the former Medical Director for Choices Women’s Medical Center. Dr. Zarkin today surrendered his license to practice medicine as a result of disciplinary proceedings by the State Health Department’s Office of Professional Medical Conduct. Among other charges, Dr. Zarkin admitted carving his initial’s into a patient during a surgical procedure. The incident occurred at Beth Israel Medical Center shortly before Dr. Zarkin was hired by the Choices clinic as its Medical Director.

The Department will pursue fines of $2000 for each of the deficiencies cited, the maximum allowed by law.

Before issuing the order to cease performing operating room procedures, State Health officials contacted all other providers of women’s reproductive health services in the region to ensure that they will be able to accept patients who normally would receive reproductive health services at Choices. The Department also is working with women’s reproductive health advocates to identify alternative, high quality health care for all patients who need it.

Health officials stress that the situation is not permanent and that Department staff will provide whatever assistance is necessary to Choices Women’s Medical Center to ensure a timely resumption of full services once the identified problems are corrected and there is evidence that corrective action will be maintained.”

It sounds like state health inspectors need to find their way back to Merle’s mill. Soon. And often.

The protesters could do perfectly legal harm to Mistress Merle’s bottom line if they were sharing the info in this post about her and her slaughter house with her potential clientele. In the name of becoming consumer protection warriors, of course. After all, INFORMED consent should be a woman’s or girl’s right.

Paging Clark Howard!

After the hearing was over, I talked with one of the people involved in the case. He took exception to me calling Merle Hoffman “Haggard Merle.”

He said it was an insult to the great Merle Haggard. He’s right. Merle Haggard was the greatest male country singer and songwriter not named Johnny Cash.

Two of my favorite  singers. Merle Haggard and Connie Smith. She and her husband Marty Stuart handled Merle’s funeral as they were his longtime friends.

Merle Hoffman looks down on rednecks, but there is one of Merle Haggard’s songs she could relate to, I said.

“Which one?” he asked.

“I Take a Lot of Pride in What I Am.”

On the other end of the phone, I heard the sound of spitting coffee.
